Lesson 3 - Objectives 1-2 (Monday)
B03-01 Skill: Open files from Bridge into Photoshop and Create New Files in Photoshop
Objective:
Opening files in Photoshop from Bridge is as easy as double-clicking an image in Bridge. That is, if Bridge's preferences are set properly. Sometimes when you double click an image, it may open in one of the other Adobe Suite of applications. I found this to be true of PNG (Portable Network Graphics) files. They wanted to open in Adobe Flash, or Adobe Illustrator. However, it is easy to change these in Bridge's preferences. Please go through the Tutorial, Open Files from Bridge into Photoshop CC. Practice doing this with your own image files! |
How to create a new file in Photoshop
Please go through the Tutorial: Creating New Files in Photoshop CC Students, as you create new files from scratch to work on in this course, I would encourage you to create them at least between 1000 - 3000 pixels on the shortest side. Many beginning students try to create low resolution images - which are actually harder to work with in Photoshop. On some projects or assignments, you'll have set a sizes you'll need to specifically adhere to, such as saving for a display screen at 1920 pixels wide by 1080 pixels tall at 72 pixels per inch. Practice creating new files with Photoshop. Open some of the templates! Explore! |
B03-02 Skill: Learn the Photoshop workspace - and how to customize it
Objective:
Please watch the video: Introduction to Photoshop CC - The User Interface and How to Customize It (Captioned Version). Click here to download or print a listing of the Photoshop shortcut keys. To select a tool using its keyboard shortcut, just press the shortcut key. If multiple tools have the same shortcut key, hold the shift key down while pressing the shortcut key multiple times to cycle through each of them. |
