Apply: Exercise B05-01
Now, try it out yourself! Here's the original public domain image, or you can choose one yourself to try it out on. Use what you've learned about the history panel, the history brush tool, and the art history brush tool to create your own stylized image. This exercise could be used for your portfolio exhibit #2 if you so choose. Save this exercise as B05-01_Your_Name.PSD.

B05-02 Skill: Use the crop tool in Photoshop

Objective:
  • Use the crop tool in Photoshop to frame to aesthetically pleasing images, straighten images, or add canvas to images.
Learn:
Watch the video - How to Crop Images in Photoshop with the Crop Tool. The video covers cropping, straightening, and cropping without losing what you cropped. Note down some of the special features of the crop tool, such as being able to choose various grids.

Apply: Exercise B05-02
Use a photo of your choice - it could be one of your own, or a stock photo (Pexels or Pixabay is a good place for free stock photos). Try various crops using Photoshop's crop tool to find the best hidden pictures. Save the original as B05-02_Before.jpg. Save one or two of your best crop choices as B05-02_After_01.jpg, B05-02_After_02.jpg, etc. You'll submit these as part of the lesson 5 exercises assignment. Something along the line of what I did with the young lady's photo above would make a great portfolio exhibit #2.
