Lesson 9 - Objectives 5-6 (Wednesday)
B09-05 Skill: Use liquify to sculpt and shape
Liquify is a powerful Photoshop plug-in that allows you to push and warp pixels. Watch the video, Photoshop Basics - The Liquify Tool. The Liquify filter lets you push, pull, rotate, reflect, pucker, and bloat any area of an image. The distortions you create can be subtle or drastic, which makes the Liquify command a powerful tool for retouching images as well as creating artistic effects. The Liquify filter can be applied to 8‑bits-per-channel or 16‑bits per-channel images.
Now, try out liquify on a photo of your choice. Be sure to duplicate your original photo to a new layer, so both a before and after image are included. Save your file as B09-05_Your_Name.psd.
B09-06 Skill: Use content-aware scale & content-aware move to move elements in the image space
Content-aware scale will allow you to realistically scale the selection with similar image content nearby. Watch the video, "Photoshop CC Content Aware Scale" to learn how to use this powerful feature.
Use the Content-Aware Move tool to select and move a part of a picture to another spot in the image. The image is recomposed and the hole left behind is filled using matching elements from the picture. You do not need to carry out intensive edits involving layers and complex selections. Watch the video, "How To Use The CONTENT-AWARE Move Tool in Photoshop - Move or Expand Objects" to learn how.
Now, try out content-aware move or content-aware scale on a photo of your choice. Be sure to duplicate your original photo to a new layer, so both a before and after image are included. Save your file as B09-06_Your_Name.psd.
