Lesson 11 - Objectives 1-2 (Monday)
Michael Hoffman created a great set of tutorials to help you learn the pen tool. We are going to work our way through them today. Many thanks to Michael for sharing these on YouTube. He has some other great tutorials on his YouTube channel. Please watch each video in order as they are presented. Each builds upon the prior videos. You'll learn best if you'll take time to practice as you go. There will be a couple of exercises to try at the end of the videos in section 11-D.
B11-01 Skill: Vector Path Fundamentals
Objectives:
The pen tool is one of the most powerful means of creating precise selections. In this series of videos, we are going to work our way from the basics to pen tool mastery, but we need to start with the fundamentals. In fact, in this video, I'm not even going to use the pen tool. Instead, we'll spend our time understanding how paths work in Photoshop, so that when we do start using the pen tool, we'll be on familiar ground. Please watch, "Pen Tool in Photoshop - 01 - Path Fundamentals." |
B11-02 Skill: Drawing Straight Paths with the Pen Tool
Objectives:
In part 2 of this series on using the Pen Tool within Photoshop, we finally do break out the Pen Tool, and start drawing straight line paths. Learn how to place and modify corner anchor points, and how to close a path. With the closed path, we'll learn how to load the path as a selection and use it as a layer mask. Please watch, "Pen Tool in Photoshop - 02 - Drawing Straight Paths." |
