Lesson 14 - Objectives 1-2 (Monday)
B14-01 What are layer effects?
Objective:
- Learn where you can add layer effects in Photoshop.
Learn:
At the bottom of the layers palette there is an Fx symbol - which will lead you to the layer effects pop up menu (see image at right). From there, you can add effects to a layer such as bevel & emboss, stroke, inner shadow, inner glow, satin, color overlay, gradient overlay, pattern overlay, outer glow, and drop shadow. You also have a powerful blending options dialog that we'll be covering later in this lesson. Layer effects are powerful tools, and when you combine several of them together, you can save them as a style. Styles can be saved as a file, just like brushes, patterns, gradients, shapes, etc. You can find many styles for free on the internet - just download and use them. Let's jump right in and learn how to use them. |
