Font Resources
  • DaFont is probably the most popular free fonts website in the world. Moreover, there is a good reason for that: this website is straightforward to use. You can use the search feature, or you can look for a font you like by browsing through the different categories that are available. A thing you will surely appreciate is that, with just one click, you can see what a particular text looks like when written in a font you like.
  • FontSquirrel is probably found on any web designer's list of free font resources. The website is easy to navigate. You get a preview of a font you like, quick and painless. The website's owners promise that they do everything possible to include fonts that are 100% free, even for commercial use, which is excellent. If you are designing your website, you will be happy to find out that FontSquirrel also offers a Webfont Generator which you can use to upload and convert fonts for web embedding.
  • Google Fonts - If you prefer getting your free fonts from a well-established software developer, you cannot go wrong with Google's own free Fonts service. Google Fonts has a lot of free fonts which you can find by searching or by selecting various criteria. The fonts that are offered by Google are open source and can be used both personally or commercially on any website, in any document or even on a t-shirt, if that is what you want. :)
  • FontSpace is a website where you can literally find tons of free fonts shared by thousands of designers all over the world. Finding the font you want is easy: use the search box if you already know the name of the font you are looking for, or browse through the various fonts categories that are available.
  • 1001 Free Fonts is probably the oldest of the bunch when it comes to free fonts resources. Although at first there may have been only a thousand and one free fonts hosted on the website, now there are probably tens of thousands of free fonts available for download. Just like most of the other websites we have mentioned in this roundup, 1001 Free Fonts also offers a search feature, and you can browse the free fonts in different categories. Most of the fonts should be free to use as you want, but there are also a few shareware fonts included. The best you can do is check the license terms of each font that you download so that you do not get into any legal issues.
  • FontZone - Another good website from which you can download fonts for free is called FontZone. It offers over 50.000 free fonts that you can use for anything you want: websites, documents, graphics and so on. FontZone organizes its fonts using various criteria: alphabetically, by popularity and by categories. If you do not know what font you want, these categories can help you browse only the ones that match the style you prefer. Moreover, if you already know the name of the font you want, FontZone also includes a search feature that works well.
  • Abstract Fonts has almost 14000 free fonts at the time this article is written. The website is straightforward and easy to use, and finding your way through it is fast. The fonts are organized into categories, new and popular, alphabetically, and by their designer. If you already know what font you want, you can also use search. Some of the fonts hosted are free for personal use, and some are free for commercial use also. It is best if you make sure to read their license before using them for your business. (Source)
